MEET OUR TRAINERS
Ben & Jess Connelly
Soma North America & The Equipping Group
Ben and Jess have been in ministry together for over 20 years, including helping to start two churches, and equipping everyday disciples, ministry leaders, and church planters across the world through The Equipping Group.
In addition to being a pastor, Ben has written/contributed to several books, workbooks, articles, and publications, and has overseen church planting efforts for multiple organisations. He also occasionally teaches university and seminary classes.
Jess has coached ministry wives and church planting resident couples for the past 5+ years. She also runs operations for a bakery and hospitality company in Fort Worth, TX, called Hurley House.
They have three children (Charlotte, Maggie, and Travis) and at times, host short-term foster kids too.
Ben and Jess travelled out to Australia in July 2022 to train and encourage churches in Adelaide, Melbourne, and Sydney, and to share at the 2022 Soma National Retreat. Ben was also out serving the Australian church in 2017, and recently in June 2023 for our first Australian Soma School in the Blue Mountains, NSW. We’re excited to have them both back this July with their children!

Pete Greenwood
Inner West Church, Flemington, Melbourne
Pete Greenwood is the planter and pastor of Inner West Church in Flemington, Melbourne. He loves helping people see how the Gospel transforms all of life, and how everyday Christians can live with missional intentionality. He finds great joy in God’s generous gifts of good coffee, great beer and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
Though his church ministry has a focus in the Kensington/Flemington area, Pete has long nurtured a passion for the western suburbs of Melbourne more broadly to see a movement of spiritual renewal as new churches are planted, established churches are renewed, and Christians gain a new willingness to be on mission. To that end, in 2019 he helped start a prayer movement of pastors and planters called Together for the West. Pete also works one day a week for City to City Australia (CTCA) helping network and resource church planters and pastors in the West with the great tools and training that CTCA has to offer.
Pete is husband to Jackie and dad to Jonathan.
Pete is on the Soma Australia Area Team.
